Meet Angela Phillips-McCord, LMFT, CCTP-I

Affirming Therapist in Ladera Ranch, CA

Have you ever felt like you had to hide parts of yourself just to feel accepted by others? Maybe somewhere along the way, you became so focused on surviving, meeting expectations, or taking care of everyone else that you started feeling disconnected from yourself — unsure of who you are beneath it all.

Maybe you’ve even tried therapy before but still walked away feeling unseen or misunderstood. Instead of helping you explore the emotions beneath your thoughts and patterns, you may have felt pressured to simply “change your mindset.”

Well, I have great news for you — therapy does not have to feel that way.

I believe healing begins when we feel safe enough to truly be seen and understood. Together, we can explore the deeper experiences beneath the surface, build self-compassion, and help you reconnect with yourself in a more authentic and meaningful way.

My Story

My path into this work is deeply personal. Like many people, I’ve experienced difficult seasons in life that challenged the way I saw myself, my relationships, and the world around me. Those experiences led me to begin doing my own healing work and sparked a deep desire to better understand people, relationships, emotional patterns, and the lasting impact our experiences can have on us.

As I began my own journey of self-awareness and healing, I realized how life-changing it can be to feel genuinely supported, emotionally safe, and understood. I often think about how powerful it is when someone has a safe person in their corner — someone who listens without judgment, offers support, and helps them reconnect with themselves. Being able to provide that kind of space for others is incredibly meaningful to me.

My commitment to you is to show up authentically and cultivate a space where you feel supported in doing the same. Together, we will work toward helping you build self-trust, strengthen your sense of self-worth, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that make you who you are — allowing you to know yourself more deeply, embrace yourself more fully, and move through life with greater confidence, clarity, and authenticity.
